On the Wheel of the Year we just reached the Summer Solstice, also known as Litha in the Wiccan tradition.
The Summer Solstice is a time of celebration and to harness the Sun is at its full power. It is a potent time to gather, give thanks for the blessings of the Earth, and to bless the fruits that will come later at harvest time.
The abundance of Light at this time of year signals a time of great power for healing and magick. We can harness the power of the Sun and bring this light into our own lives to support us with our personal journey.
Celebrating the Solstice with the Modern Mystery School
To celebrate the 2022 Summer Solstice, Modern Mystery School Minneapolis-St. Paul leaders, Genevieve Wachutka and Sarah Smriga, created a special Summer Solstice Ceremony. The ceremony integrated the Wiccan Druid tradition, which is a way of working with the magick of Earth, the elements and archetypes to bring healing, joy, and balance. The ceremony included ritual, drumming, meditation, and a community gathering.

A reflection and meditation to work with the power of the sun might begin with journaling on the following questions:
- What do I want to create in my life?
- What seeds have I planted to create this?
- What steps can I take to nurture these seeds?
- What do I need to let go of to make space for these seeds to grow?
Following this journaling, meditate with the power of the sun.
- Connect to the element of Fire, and visualize the light of the Sun infusing you with life force energy.
- As you breathe, allow the spiritual light to flow through you and purify, burning away whatever impurities are within. All the light to release whatever is impeding your growth and vitality.
- See your creation grow stronger and more realized. Allow yourself to fully experience this vision. Engage your senses. How does it feel to live this as a reality?
- Continue to breathe and strengthen this vision, harnessing the power of the sun to charge yourself up with the necessary energy to let go and purify.
The final step is to create action steps and schedule them in your calendar. This will set up follow-through on nurturing the seeds for what you want to create in your life.
